Common Questions
Is my committment confidential? Can it be changed if necessary?
All giving to Thrive Community Church is completely confidential including giving to the Dream Big Campaign. Commitments can be changed if necessary, allowing you to either increase or decrease your commitment as needed. Your decision to change your commitment should be done only after much prayer.
Will I be billed monthly for my pledge?
No. We will be counting on you to meet your commitments in a timely manner. However, we highly recommend you automate your giving with a debit or credit card via our pledge form. Your gifts may also be given via the mail, the weekly offering, through our online giving portal or through donor advised funds. If giving via check, please be sure to designate your checks by writing Dream Big on the memo line.
What happens in the event that more or less than the outlined goals are committed?
If more than $300,000 is sacrificially given over the next three years then this will allow us to expand the scope of our project and/or reduce the size of our building loan debt. This would be a wonderful problem to have! If less is given then we may need to extend the campaign.
What is expected of me?
Ask questions and be informed. Most importantly, seek God. Take time to prayerfully consider what kind of sacrifice God is asking you to make. “Not equal gifts, but equal sacrifice” best describes Thrive’s understanding of Biblical stewardship.
How do I get more information about the Dream Big Campaign?
Attend a Purpose Event and check out our campaign website: dreambigforthrive.org (which you already have!)
Should I redirect my tithe or regular giving the the Dream Big Campaign?
No. Your giving commitment to the campaign should be above and beyond your regular giving.
How do I make my committment the Campaign?
On November 24, we will come together as a church family to take the next step toward God’s vision for Crossroads by doing two things:
What is a First Fruits Offering?
Just as the Bible refers to times when God’s people were encouraged to bring the best of the crops or herds as an offering to the Lord (Proverbs 3:9-10), First Fruits in Dream Big carry the same idea. We are worshipping the Lord by making a sacrificial commitment to His expanded work through Dream Big First Fruits is the opportunity that we have, to bring our largest possible gift toward our identified 3-year commitment, on the same weekend. The first fruit offerings will be given along with the commitment card on November 24th during Sunday services.
Where can I find electronic versions of brochers and other things that were given to me?
You can find electronic versions of paper documents handed out by visiting the Documents page.
Giving Strategies
Gifts In Kind/Appreciable Assets
Transferring ownership of stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.Tax codes are generous towards t his form of giving. Giving the asset to the church, then allowing the church to sell eliminates potential capital gains taxes and can increase the after-tax proceeds, providing significant tax savings.
Income producing assets
Interest income, payments from rental properties, or monies from other incomeproducing assets provide sources of increased giving
Sale of Assets
Sales of major assets such as a house, car, land, or business provide sources of increased giving.
Income Raises/Bonuses/Tax Returns
Donating raises, bonuses, and tax returns are also avenues to increased giving.
Freedome From Debt
As debt obligations are fulfilled, additional revenue may become available for increased giving.
Unique Skills Income/Special Sales
You may have marketable hobbies or skills, which enable you to give from those profits. Or, maybe you can hold a garage sale and donate the proceeds to the REACHING BEYOND Campaign.
Giving Up Some Luxuries
Lifestyle adjustments can help make extra money available to give to the Dream Big Campaign. Consider canceling cable subscriptions and frequent trips for coffee, or scaling back on entertainment and eating out.
